cub idler gear

while rebuilding my 1951 farmall cub engine I decided to change the the idler gear bushing so I removed the old one pressed a new one into the idler gear and now the housing that holds the idler gear to the block won;t go through the new bushing . the new bushing is .015 to large can I hone the new bushing or what. Thanks john

John, those bushings are like rod bushings, they have to be machined once they are installed to fit the housing they run on. Take it and the housing to a machine shop/ engine rebuilder and have it reamed to size.

John, yes, the new bushings will be a little thick to make up for wear on the gear, so they need to be reamed to tollerance.
