about 10 years ago we put a 301d in our 560d. the block was cracked. its basically a bolt in motor. we paid $1800 for the motor and have not had any problems with it. it is putting out 75 hp. our oil filter spins on and doesn't hit the steering shaft.
good luck!

It's pretty easy to switch to a C-263, C-291, or C-301 gas. If you get the replacment engine from another tractor, all you need is a 560 front cover and rear plate. Those parts off of your 282 might work. If you get the engine from a combine, you also have to do something about the oil filter base, since the combine base doesn't clear the steering shaft. It would be extremely hard to convert the D-282 to gas, since the gas engines have a different head bolt pattern, and have 15 head bolts instead of 14 like the diesel.

Not sure if the 301 will bolt up or not. Converting from diesel to gas is going to be a major undertaking. Even if you get manifolds, carburetor, distributor, etc. you will need a new wiring harness for a start. If you are getting the entire engine and all of the attachments it will help a lot. The blocks between the gas and diesel will have different openings for things like the distributor and fuel pump. Just a couple of things to think about.
