Someone earlier said that you can take the silencer ring off of an airesearch TO-4. I have looked in my I&T shop manual, and don't see it, is there a different name for it? Or if you have any ideas on how to make the turbo louder, just reply. thanks lot

I have taken to4's apart theirs no silencer ring on later turbo's that you have discribed.Theirs a extra piece in the early to'4 but not held in by a snap ring it's a flat ring is this what your talking about on the wider compresor housing?

If you find one on a to-4, let me know where it's at. The Dodges have them to quiet the turbo down so doesn't whistle as much in the cab. Yes it will add a couple of HP 3-5.

Does removal give any more power or just make them louder?

Just give you more turbo "whine", no additional power.
