My 1946 W6 has different logo's on the gauges. The ammeter has the IHC logo and the Oil pressure one has the IH logo. Whats correct for the year it was made

Ed, The 46 models had IH logos on the gauges. The change was made from IHC in 45

I believe these gauges are the originals . Is it possible they may have had left overs and combined the two types ? Or someone may have replaced the ammeter with the older style years back. Would the switch box for this year have the fuse in the center or the style without ? Or were both offered. This tractor never came with lights mounted.

Ed, It is entirely possible that your tractor could have had gauges from both generations since it was not beyond IH to do that with a lot of components in changeover years. As to the fuse mopunted in the switch box, I think that came later, but not sure what year. Maybe someone else can verify that for you. Just curious, but which gauge has the IH, and which has IHC? Oil should be IH unless it was replaced, but water could be either since if your tractor didnt have lights, it is also possible that it didnt have a water gauge from the factory, which was not uncommon for those years, and a gauge added on later. During the war and right after, there were a lot of "bare bones" tractors out there. A neighbor of ours had a 45 "H" that although had rubber tires, had no lights, or starter, or water gauge.

This tractor never had the water gauge mount punched out. The previous owner punched it out and put a universal one in but never connected it. The ammeter has the IHC logo and the oil is the IH one.The dash has no fuse ,but the tractor was converted to regulator instead of the cut out.I'm going to keep the regulator setup but replace it with one that mounts on the generator like the cutout was. The hole in the dash for the charge switch is being updated with a 3 way IH switch .Looking for lights also.
This way it will look somewhat original. When the aftermarket supply improves or I find original parts in good shape at a fair price I'll put it back to original.

Thanks for your reply ,it was appreciated. I'm totally new at the red tractors . Having sold off 2 fordsons and a 601 diesel with SOS this past year.
