F-14 newbie questions

Hello all;

A guy at work has an F-14 and asked me a couple of questions about it since i'm the company old iron buff. The tractor is far away from him, so he doesn't get out to see it that often and was wondering a couple of things about it. First off, is there a separate lever that engages the PTO shaft, or is it thrown in and out of gear with the belt pulley? I know that the belt pulley linkage should be obvious, but if there is a second lever for the PTO, where is it (pictures help).

Also, I have never owned a tractor that was magneto driven and hand cranked...my friend also asked what was the proper way of shutting down one of these tractors (besides the obvious turning off the fuel line)? Assume that the tractor does NOT have an electric start option on it. Any pictures you may have would be most helpful.

The belt pulley runs all the time,unless the clutch pedal is pushed in,no way to cut it on or off.The pto lever is a short lever near the left foot,as if you were sitting on it,about 12" long or so.My 14 has the small tank ob top of the hood,so when i shut my down for say an hour or so,I turn the spark advance to the left till it stops.When I shut it down for the day,I just simply shut off the gas,but I think the book says to shut it down via the spark advance lever.

I always shut mine down by retarting the timing - works fine. Couple of thoughts on starting the tractor - don't advance the timing all the way or the tractor will kick like a mule and be dangerous to crank and also if the belt pully is installed it acts like another flywheel and I've found it easier to block the clutch so the pully doesn't turn while trying to crank it. If I'm not going to use the belt pully for a while I take it off of mine and I have the cap that goes over the shaft so It's not exposed.
