I have been thhinking about getting the clutch on my 300U TA to work easier. What would happen if I was to just disconnect the linkage to the TA so the TA clutch did not depress when the main clutch was depressed? Would I screw anything up? Could I get it into gear? Your experience/opinion would be appreciated.
Thanks Steve.
By the way the TA works fine.

Steve: If you unhook the TA you will never get it shifted, and you will not have a working TA very long either. Get yourself a manual and adjust the TA. Remember, close doesn't count, these have to be adjusted to the letter and by the book.

Also...does your 300 have the old style clutch pedal? They are much harder to push down. There was a retro fit back in the late 50's early 60"s. This fixed a lot of leg busters. Leave it all hooked up but you may want to retro your tractor.

IH tractors with T/A's are notorious for shifting hard. If your T/A works fine then you need to make sure the linkages are all adjusted to compensate for clutch wear. My 504 got to be almost impossible to shift but when I went through the linkages, it's like a new machine. I would advise against disconnecting the T/A.
