856 not shifting

My partner recently dropped an 856 in my yard. The tractor is hard to shift into forward gears, but much worse into reverse, without grinding. I am guessing this would be a problem with linkage adjustment or a dump valve not releasing in the clutch? Also the power steering is hard, like a lack of fluid to the pump. Hydraulic fluid level is on the mark. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I've got a service manual somewhere...will have to find that soon I'm guessing.

Dave Sounds like you need to adjust clutch, then the tranny brake on the right side. You may need to test the power steering pump.

We have an 856 that likes to grind gears too, I did not know there was a tranny brake on them,, I usually pulled the TA back,, Where is the adjustment on the brake located on the 856? Thanks,,

It's on the right side of the tractor. Makes all the differance in the world in shifting. Also the pad can wear off the stop clutch lever. And adjust the main clutch. David
