If M and SM have original front timing covers pump will not interchange. Top 2 pump mounting bolts on M are 3 in. center to center and SM 3 3/8 inch center to center. This applies to early SM with belly pump as well as later models. Front covers can be swapped out and this might have been done on your M. On some pumps top holes can be slotted out enough to let M pump bolt on SM.

Whatever ,all the parts will be there if needed. It is simply a transfer of parts from one to the other. Some of the pumps will go straight on others you will need to change the front cover. It isn't brain surgery.

Barb, Moving the live pump from the M to the Super M is no problem. It sounds like you have a 52 SM with the belly pump hydraulics. You will need to change reservoirs also and lines etc. I am lost on your power steering though. Does the M have it and you are going to put it on the SM? If such is the case then it will be a direct switch over.
