My 43 H was converted to 12volt before buying. the alternator is brand new and a new battery installed. Went to start it today after a 2 month rest, and it would only roll the starter once. Boosted it, and she purred like a kitten. Let it run for thirty minutes, drove it around and parked it in its winter barn, shut down and tried to restart. Nothing. Only would roll the starter about once. The conversion was done by a starter/alternator repairman who loves old tractors, so I think that was done right.Could any one suggest some remedies? Thanks in advance.

we will assume this is an alternator with an internal voltage regulator. you need three things to make it work.--the alternator must have a good ground (no rusty bolts)-- there should be a BIG wire off the back lug (1/4 inch bolt) that goes to the ampmeter, then to the + terminal of the battery. make sure all are tight.--third, there should be a smaller wire that is the excitation wire on a smaller terminal. it will get 12 volts from the key or switch when motor is running. chekc for the 12 volt signal. what does the ampmeter say? measure voltage at the BIG terminal to ground when running. what does it say. if everything checks out o.k., then you probably have a bad regulator inside.
