How do I tell if a Farmall Super M LP is originally LP or a conversion? I drove it and seems to be VERY strong. Brakes are good. Transmission and rear-end are quiet. Doesn't jump out of high gear. Fair tires. Sheet metal needs some work. Is $1600.00 too much. Thanks for your help.

Lamont, A quick an easy way to chech without first buying a book. At the bottom in the "Related Sites" go into Tractor Links.com....
Go into the Farmal section...On page 3, Toms Antiques tractors, he has pics of SMLPs... Stage IIs have the cross wise tank, Since you didn't mention a TA on this one Then it probably isn't a Stage III. It has a long wise tank, with a valve cluster @ the 11:00 position, while siting in the seat. Hope This helps.
Later,
John A.

Engine and chassis No. should have C or N suffix on factory LP. Like most things on old Farmalls there probaly are exceptions.

I live in SC and the ones I have looked at go for about that price if everything is in good working order. Some a little cheaper and some a little more.
