okay guys, got a question? i have a 706D(282)and by what i read in my books and what i hear on this forum.i'm confused, how many bottoms could the old girl really pull? i have a 4 16" semi mount IH,but a fella tells me he pulled 5 bottoms with his without a problem.i know they were rated a 5 plow tractor. And the disc i'm told could be anywhere from 10' to 16'. it don't matter to me really,i'm just curious. i already have the impliments for it,like i say just curious. thanks in advance.

yes they were rated 4-5 plow but that dependes on soil types , if ya got 4-16 's then ya got enough for it and you will find out that is about all you will want it should haul them in 4 th low with the t/a in high on level ground and at a plow depth of 8 to 10 inches. you will also find that you will need atleast 600 lbs on the nose if not a shade more . I farmed with a 706 with a 291 gas for years and a 291 has a bit more snuff then a 282 .

I could pull a 4-16 fast hitch semi mount plow with my 706 Ger dsl. no problem. Used low and 4 with TA ahead.
