I seen a sign hanging on a shop wall when I was a kid and it stuck with me. It said, If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to have time to do it over.

On the first tractor I restored which was an OS6 I was in too much of a hurry to buy some of the parts I needed and paid too much for some of them.Take some time to look arond at various parts sources before you buy.Seals and bearing are more reasonable at a place that handles bearings and seals.

Tip #1 - if you have any questions, ask here - lots of knowledgable people read and reply.

Tip #2 - do it right the first time. If anything is questionable, rebuild or replace it.

Check out my website for some pictures of the inside of an H - Link

One lesson that I learned was to replace all of the seals while restoring the tractor. They don't cost that much and new seals will sure help the paint job.

Good idea to fix anything that is bad or weak or wore out on the tractor. Be sure to fix all leaks. If mounting new tires, be sure to clean up and paint the rims inside and out. For repainting, it is best to do a disassembly and reassembly so all parts get completely painted and not just where it is visible. Ussually best to strip down to bare metal before painting and use a primer for the first coat. You will probably want to drain, flush, and refill with new fluids for everything and new filters. You will probably want to replace points, plugs, wires, hoses, and belts with new ones. I'm sure you will get more tips.
