I am finding more and more that I love this old tractor. Rode it around some and could easily see into the bushes and stuff I want to cut. Is there a belly mower to fit an a? I am pretty sure there is a sickle mower that fits.
Having read a lot here I am finding there are a lot of ways to do a job and that a farmer is far more than someone who gets dirty. Farmers are very adaptable, very clever people who can find a way to get the job done, given any way at all.
Is there a belly mower that can cut brush up to say 2 1/2 inches or so? The rest can easily be done with axe or chain saw.
What are the advantages of belly mower and sickle mower?
Also if the cutting I have to do is limited to 2 inch limbs and less do I really need a bush hog?
Thank you all for the wonderful information you have given so far. I am finding more and more that the answers I find here are very insiteful and realistic. Thanks again
Tom

I have an IH C3 belly mower on my '46 A. You can also use the Woods L59 deck. The C3 and L59 are both 5 foot FINISH mowers, not to be used as a hog. Woods also makes a 4 foot belly mower which is set up like a hog, with heavier blades. Maybe this is what you want. I'd suggest borrowing a tractor and hog to get it down, then use the belly mower to keep it down. Good Luck.....Stan

Thanks, Stan. I think your idea is probably just right. Perhaps trying to use one implement for both jobs isn't very good.
The C3, is it bolt on, with no adapting or anything needed or do you have to modify someway?
Also, do you have a sickle mower?
Thanks
Tom

The C3 or the Woods are blt on. The manual lift can be puechased with the mower deck. I have the L59 Woods on a MH Pony, and I'd say it's a bit better deck than the C3. No, I don't own a sickle mower. I use my 641 Ford with 3pt hog to take everything down first thing each spring. That poor hog has taken down 4 inch trees, ground some stumps, and even leveled a high spot in the yard! I'm a little bit abusive to the hog, but it keeps on workin'. ..... Stan
