I was told that the 806 came with either the 310 german or the 282. Somebody else said it was the 361. Who's right?

Any pitfalls with any of these engines?

I have a D 282 engine in a 560 diesel which still runs good. There are a lot of 560D and 706D with this engine that are still running.

I believe the later 806 D361 engines had oil spray into the bottom of the cylinders which added to there longevity.

The 806 diesel used the D-361 engine. These are almost bulletproof if you take care of them. I know of several that have over 10K hours on them and have not been "touched" yet. I have seen atleast 4 of the Farmall 806 diesels that have over 20K hours on them that have NEVER been overhauled and still run strong.

With proper care, almost any tractor engine can have a long life.

The 806 Diesel was a 361. The early 706 was a 282 and the late 706 was a 310.

The 282 was in the early 706, the 310 in the late 706, and the 361 in the 806 as far as I know they were all good engines. I have two 310's in a 706 and 756.
