has anyone done this swap? and how much machine work is involved or is it a direct bolt in? How much HP and CI would this motor be?

Must change front motor plate & timeing gear case to tractor type .Use cast oil filter base and change the bypass holes easy to do.Rear motor plate off of tractor and flywheel will bolt right on will have to use two bolts instead of studs where their not thearded.Cast filter base allows steering shaft to pass by engine and frame.

There are quite a few around here, just bolt it in, oil pan and hydro cover have to be changed to make it look stock. Most are over 100 hp, its a 806 gas motor 301 cu., the combine motors have to be bored out to 301.

All 1971-76 715 IH gas combine engines are 301 cubes.I have a parts 715 IH gas combine with a good running 301 and one of these days if I ever leave this computer long enough its going to jump in my 1961 460 gas with a shot 221.

There are a few things you have to change to do this such as oil filter base,front cover,etc if I remembered right.I have it all wrote down some where.

Here is a list of IH combine gas engines.
303= C221 65 hp
403= C263 90 hp
503= C282 106 hp
615= C263 80 hp
715= C301 107 hp

All from the original sales lit.Have owned a 403 and (2) 715 gas combines.

I forgot about the 715 combine motor, most here used 503 c282 bored to 301 , I think a 403 hillside has the 282 in it to. 1206SWMO thanks for the imformation on the combine motors especially hp. ratings.

Wow,, is the 263 403 engine really that strong? That is exactly what I have in my 460H,, I was thinking about boring the block out to the 806+.060, and use high alt LP pistons. better than firecraters by a long shot,, hard to find,, but well worth the hunt,, I would estimated you could get 115-120hp easy witha set of those pistons and a truck cyl head. The truck heads,,(I just learned this last week) have a very very small comp chamber,, a fire crater would not work in this head,, the pistons I mentioned would have to be cut down a bit,, but would work,, My opinion for finding hop up parts for the 221-301 is to find the combie engines, and the truck engines,, take 2 and make 1,, Just my 2 cents,, Chad

Chad, Combine hp ratings are flywheel as thats the way they are rated so they sound stronger than what they are.

An 806 gas with a C301 is 93 on the pto and 81 on the drawbar.

A 706 gas with a C263 is 74 on the pto and 66.5 on the drawbar.
