Is there supposed to be a gasket that goes between the block and the rear plate that bolts to the bell housing. I put some silicone gasket material on before i bolted to plate on but i figured i should find out for sure before i went any farther. Also, i got a gasket set for the H (from federal mogul) and it contains a metal oil seal that i have no idea where it would go. thanks for the help

The oil seal goes in the timing gear cover. It is the front engine seal that goes around the pulley that is driven on the end of the crankshaft. There is no gasket that goes between the block and the clutch housing.Good luck.

Thanks for the help, I guess I missed seeing that seal when I took all that stuff apart. Must be still stuck to that pulley.

Jeff, it would be in the timing gear cover that bolts on to the front of the engine.
