James, I just have to say that what you guys are doing is one of the nicest things anyone could do for a complete stranger. I know how hard it can be finding the right parts for your pride and joy, and how much those parts are to boot! You all should be commended. Merry Christmas to you guys.

HI I'm 16, and I got done overhauling my first tractor, a 1944 Farmall H, last winter. I would like to make my tractor more complete with a set of fenders, a rear light, a battery box, and a grill insert. Thanks to any one who can help.

My brother and I raise animals for our fair because we are in 4-H. We use my 44 H to pretty much do every thing to raise some corn to cut down on the feed bill. That's why I'm asking for these few items.

I inherited my 1952 farmall m from my grandpa a couple years back, i am in the 4-H plowing club with it. I have to convert it to a 12 volt system, so i need $300 to do that, or a pair of back tires.

My address is:

I'm in FFA too!

I am working on an H and am needing a grill insert. I love working on tractors but sometimes the money isn't always there.
Thanks and merry Christmas

I am not sure exactly how young you have to be, but I will post my list anyway. I am a college student, so there isn't much tractor part money for me.

For the '51 M:
straighter grill/farmall emblem/insert
hydraulic 2 way valve, deck hose cover, and couplers at the back of the tractor

For the '54 SMTA:
Pay the @(#*$ thing off
straighter grill + an insert
2 way valve, deck hose cover, and couplers
tuneup kit
new straightpipe to replace the muffler

For the '40 A:
Bearings, rings, a cylinder hone, micrometer, valve seals, carb kit, tuneup kit, gasket set, torque wrench

for the '42 Oliver 70:
tighter governor linkage
new valve seals
carb kit
tuneup kit

I Am getting a mag to install on it, so Ill need a Mag ignition switch.

Isnt the mag switch the kind that goes on the starter? The guy that wired mine before I got it mounted a solenoid to the starter, Its been removed. As well as most of the wiring.

Tommy- Thanking all the wonderful Santas!

A mag switch is a push/pul switch that mounts on the dash of your tractor,it has only 1 terminal and all it does is grounds the mag out when its pushed in

Right, I got the ignition and starter switches mixed up. I thought you meant starter switch. I need both switches, I cant find the ignition switch or the starter switch.

The ignition switch goes in the dash right? Next to the light switch? Well mine is broken off in the hole. Ill have to punch it out. The guy that did the work had no remorse when he worked on it...sad really.

lol, Im new to this, and dont have all the words licked yet.

I acquired my first old farm tractor, a 1952 H, this summer. I helped an elderly gent that goes to my church cut, haul, and stack a large oak for fire wood. In addition, I helped rearrange some stuff in his barn. In exchange for my help, (if you can call it that, evan though I tried to reduce his workload, he still seemed to do more work then me, at least he was more tired than I.) he gave me his H, which has been parked outside for the past five or so years due to electrical malfunction. Hopefully, it won't be seized, and I can get it running without big money. I'm 16 and had a money paying job this summer, so give priority to younger kids who need the stuff more then I. But, if you folks run out kids to give to, here's my list:

Spark plug wires.

Oil and temp gauges.

Hoses for carb and radiator.

All electrical wires.

Rear light assembly.

Gaskets and seals, such as valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, rear axle seals, pto gasket, etc.

V-belts.

Probably whatever parts you need to rebuild the starter and generator.

In short whatever parts rot in five years of sitting!

Well, that's all (HA!) that I can think and know of right know. The tractor is still at my friend's place, so I haven't given it a really good look over. As I said earlier, I hope it is not seized, because for at least last three years, all that has been covering the broken off exhaust stack is a terra-cotta pot.(GROAN!!!!)

I just want to say that you "Santas" are very kind and generous!

A very blessed Christmas to all!!
