Looking at a 606 for sale, starts right up but miss fires until warmed up a little.Showing some oil in the radiator but no water in the crankcase. Is this a common thing with the 606? What are the things i need to look for on this tractor? Missing hood side panels and the grille. Are sheet metal parts hard to find for it?The asking price is $1000.00 What do you guys think? Thanks Matthew.

International 606 parts , especially sheet metal, are rare in most areas because there was no Farmall model and the production numbers for the International were not real high.

Shot for $1000 you could parts it out for more then what you would have in it. Plus get a couple go years out of it, I know if Icould by it I would. I payed around $3500-4500 for a 450 and its not as big

I got a 606 diesel last year and I like it. I paid $2200 for it with a brush mower(tractors with as little as 35hp go for $5000 around here). The metal had some rust but it started right up and runs well. They only made it for five years, so some parts are hard to find. I've been working on replacing the 3-point hitch to the original parts and that has been a little difficult. I got lucky and found an owners manual on ebay. Things like filters are carried by NAPA. With the miss fire, hold the glow plug for a full minute, then after you start it, continue to hold it until the white smoke stops. I've never had oil in the radiator, are you sure it's not some antileak gook?

Matthew, Although I agree with Rebuilder that you don't see many 606's in salvage yards, most 606 parts are not all that hard to find. Not sure the oil in the water issue but you are looking at a 6 cylinder 50+ hp tractor for $1000. You can do alot of fixing for that price. I have some 606 sheetmetal and grille parts if you are interested and get the tractor.

MAtthew: Having worked at an I.H./Farmall salvage yard almost 10 years I have yet to see a 606 come in to be torn apart, so there are not many here in the upper midwest. Make sure you can finnd a ready supply of parts in your area!
