I ordered my rebuilt TA today from Steel wheel ranch.
$395 + $100 core. I am going to have to eat the core charge as the main shaft is not in good shape on my core. This is a spag type TA. Price is still quite a bit less than IH dealer. IH dealer priced them at about $1000 for a rebuilt one. I also ordered the TA seal & Gasket kit $60 and the PTO seal kit $22.50

I am going to get at this after Christmas. This looks like its going to be a big deal for me. Looks real complicated so be ready for alot of stupid questions!!! :-)

Kelly: I have to say you seem to have gotten an excellent price for you T.A. I believe My rebuilds are sold @ $575.00(except for 544/656/666/686), exchange and add $100.00 for the rebuild with a heavy duty sprague. Other prices you quoted seem right in line.

I remembered a tip you will want to use if you don't know it already. Use an ordinary rubber band and place it around the roller bearings of the top shaft in the rear end of the tractor. This is the shaft you T.A. shaft will slide over. The rubber band keeps the rollers tight together alowing for an easier assembly of the bellhousing to the rear end. Rubberband will just slide off the bearing and remain there without damaging any hardware. Also using bolts with heads cut off and tapered for guides are a must too.

Kelly,
Only 395 for a rebuilt TA? I was expecting more cash to do that. I may get one for my one 300 that is "out". I thought that they cost upwards of 800. And, the only questions that are stupid are the ones you don't ask.
Have a great Christmas.

If the main Shaft was not chipped. I would have tried to replace the Ramp and roller my self. You can get them on ebay for $85. Dont think I could have found a new shaft for it reasonable. Any way I will get to tinker with the one in my 300 when I do that one.
