I took off my gas tank to clean out the dirt. In the process I took off the steering wheel to get the instrument panel off (the loader frame wouldn't let me take the tank out the other direction).
I used a gear puller on the steering wheel and also rapped it with a hammer.
Now, I have a leak coming from the crack where the left and right gear shaft housings meet at the bottom of the power steering assembly.

What are some steps I can take now?

Don't get too worried just yet...It sounds like you just knocked the epansion plug loose at the bottom of the steering shaft...you should see a round plug(sort of like a frost plug) at the bottom between the two halves. It probably got pushed out...you may be able to tap it back in place and get out of trouble. It gives you a chance to change your fluid out. You may have to remove the box to fix it...If you do and you find water in the hydraulic lines leading to the steering I would suggest tearing it apart to do a rebuild.
