I have a FAMALL MD that I'm trying to restore.
When I got it the engine was seized all four pistons I removed the head and sprayed them all down and got the back three loose but the front one is still stuck. I tryed to put a bottle jack on it to force down but that didn't work. So I removed the oil pan to see where the crank is at when I found the crankshaft center bearing thrust washers both sides in the bottom of the pan. Any ideas how to get the piston loose love to hear them.

If the thrust bearing is shot, youll have to find a used one in good shape,or an NOS one as they are no longer available.

I have rebuilt an M engine where all 4 pistons were froze as well. Everyone has an opinion. I have a method that worked for me. I put some liquid wrench on top of the pistons and then unbolted the oil pan and removed all the rod caps. Use a rubber dead blow hammer and a 1" or larger wooden dowel. Place the dowel underneath the piston, on the wrist pin joint(So you do not knock the top of the piston off) and hammer like a mother fuc### for about two hours a piece and they they come right out the top! Yes I know that sounds like work, it is... BUT, it works. Get this, I even put a bottle jack underneath one of the pistons to push it out the top, nope. The entire tractor lifted off the ground. Remember all that is stuck is those little rings. Just pound with all your might and they will come right out the top. You'll get them out.

I just got my Super AV free the other day after waiting a month with a little of everything in the cylinders. I used marvel mystery oil, kerosene, pb blaster, turpentine. I just waited and would rock it every so often and I pulled it in gear with the truck about 8 tines for a short stretch. Low and behold, we finally rolled it in the garage over the weekend, pulled the head and put more penetrating oil in and out of nowhere it just broke free. Maybe give it some more time with the penetrating oils??

I don't want to sound to negative or scare you off, but sometimes those stuck pistons will not come loose, no matter what you try. You may have to resort to cutting the piston, and breaking it into small pieces.

I don't quite remember the name, I think it's Marvel Magic or something like that. Use that. It will free anything up. And it takes a lot less time than diesel. Automotive places usually carry it. If you can't find it, use the diesel, a piece of wood, and a hammer and it should come loose. Good luck getting it out through the bottom without removing the crank!
