I'm going to "spruce up" my 44' A & my 49 C, HomeDepot sells spray cans of Rustoluem International Red. Is this a decent color match to original?? I just want to do a good basic job, just to make them look a little nicer, I'm not going for any awards or "professional-restoration". The other color that looked close was MF red, also availible off the shelf...

I have used it on three tractors and it does a fine job and the spray cans come in handy for small brackets like flag holders rear mirror brackets, smv brackets and so forth. Some like to use vmp for thinner on last coat and have a real good shine. Finish job looks factory.

I have used the rustoleum and found that I can't tell the difference between it and the 2150 IH
that I used from the gallon can.

I only bought one spray can of IH 2150. Based on this one can, I was dissappointed. The minute I
picked the can up, you can hear the rattle which tells me that there isn't much material in the can to mix. The paint was very hard to keep from running.

Try both, see which one you like. I have painted tractors with spray cans, it worked for me!

In my experience if it sits inside it will be ok. But if it sits outside at all it will be pink in a few short months. Used it on my trailor and it looks kinda girlie now.

For the best job, use a spray gun, but if you insist on spray cans, don't use anything but Case-IH 2150. It is more expensive, but vastly superior to anything else you will find.

I'm with you CN. I have found the IH 2150 to be both excellent in quality and durability. It matches perfectly with mixed IH paint from my compressor. In fact I will often use it at the same time to touch up underneath or hard to reach places so I don't have to risk getting runs when I am spraying.

I have found Krylon paints in every application to which they have been put to be suitable for a kids shop project and little else.

i personally do consider krylon a childs toy paint. link shows a tractor i painted about 18 years ago. granted it does not set out any. in my case it is much easier than spray gun. also, have had several comments on what type paint did i use. as always , to each his own. wade

I paint older tractors in my spare time for people and the expierience i've had with the 2150 IH paint is the paint I use all the time and works great. My expierience with spray cans is not that great. They are perfect for touch up spots but to do a whole tractor i would recommend an air sprayer, you'll get a better quality paint job. Just a few thoughts.

have used rustoleum and krylon. like krylon better. dries quicker. cost about $125 to paint a tractor. have a couple that were painted 18 years ago and are still great. link is to last one about 4 years ago. use cherry red gloss. always used 3 - 4 coats primer and sanded smooth. then added 4 -5 coast paint and gave it a real fine (1000 grit) sand before final coat.

I use Rustoleum on my old F20s and it does a good job. I never like spray cans but if that is what you want it will be fine. Otherwise if you have an IH dealer near you they have IH paint in spray cans.
