Been thinking about buying a Farmall Cub.What were some of the common problems with them?Does anyone make a three point hitch set up for them?Did anyone make a belly mount grader blade for these.Do the hydraulics allow a blade to have "down pressure"?Any help is appreciated!

Freddie: The first question that comes to my mind is "what do you plan on doing with it?" Comments such as "underpowered" (while appropriate if not meant sarcastically) are very relative. IH made (well) over 100,000 of these tractors, which means that somebody found them useful for something! If you're planning on on doing yard work, light grading or (snow) plowing, or light field work such as light plowing, harrowing, discing or cultivating, the Cub is plenty of tractor for you. If you're planning on pulling a 10-bottom plow, step up to something a bit larger.... I use my '58 Cub for running a 5' finish mower, and pulling around the usual assortment of things that need pulling, such as a wagon, yard roller, small disc harrow, yard leveller (old box spring with weights) and similar implements. I LOVE the tractor, and it's the first one I hop on when I want to get in some "seat time" for stress relief.

I would look for a farmall A or super A Before I would buy a cub (at least the older ones that were 10HP) I used to own a 51 cub a few years ago and it was very under powered for deep snow, 15+ inches of the heavy wet stuff. If you are set on getting a cub then get a cub cadet from the 60's or 70's and it will be a lot less money. The cub is 1500lbs. 10HP, and no rear three pt. that I know of.

My Grandfather farmed 100 acres with only one farmall cub. He and his brothers ran it day and night plowing, disking, planting and cultivating. The cub is one tough little tractor.

It is obvious, Mr. that you don't belong here!

Fast Freddie,
Look at the casting where the front end assembly
attaches to the block just under the mag. It's
fairly common for the ear on the block to crack
if it was beat on. The Cub does have a combination
plow/grader blade that mounts under the belly and
can be adapted to the hydraulics if you have them.

They made a blade for it that could be mounted in the front or middle. There are no common problems with them that I know of. Most of my neighbors owne a cub or have owned them and had no problems with them except your normal wear Parts that had to be replaced.

Scotty,

It's done in the very last section of your profile in the avatar control panel. The directions are given there. Write me privately if you have trouble with it.
