Hi I have a Super A, due to an injury I have not been able to run it any, Well it has not been cranked in a year, in october I changed the oil, but the battery was dead so I could not crank it, but i used the hand crank an turned it over a few times, the motor turned ok, but before I could crank it I was put in the hospital again, so yesterday I was able to get back on it, but know the motor will not turn, I thought it was the starter locke causing it, so i removed it still nothing.I took out the spark plugs an put in some MM oil but still it will not turn, i have even bent the hand crank trying!!!! could the fly wheel be caught on somthing HELP!!!!It was my Dads tractor he framed 200ac with...it has had its moments over the years but nothing like this.

You also can jack up one rear wheel and leave it in 4th gear and a few times a day walk out rock the rear tire back and forth. Who knows, with the oil you put in it I would think it should free up.What part of the USA are you in? Maybe myself or someone else on here can come by and lend you a hand. Don't put yourself in the hospital over it. I rupurted two disk in my back trying to horse a set set of heads out of my old truck this summer and now I got a numb foot. Now I work more with my head and less with my back. And I ask for help more, even sometimes ask Momma to get here hands greasy but she don't like it much.

I live in Eastern N.C. And the temp is pretty moderate, we have cold nites but no more than maybe be a couple in a row, daytime warms up pretty quick. Yes I know about the disk in your back. I have had 2 surgeries in the past year for that, another comming up in late Jan. Thanks for all the help, Thanks to everyone!!!

i got this 240 from my father in law for free. my wife and i have been married for lucky 13 and dated 4 years before that..his tractor was parked in the front yard during that time, never moved, never started, never covered, (except exhaust). he has fessed up and as best i can tell he last ran it in the mid 80's. Anyway, he gave me this free tractor, and was it stuck! we did not even know for sure what the tractor was....anyway, lubed the cylinders, took the head off, (you shouldn't have to do) and monkey wrench on front pulley shaft, i was luck there was direct hyd driven loader shaft on front, and motor turned.. anyway if yu live near duluth, i'll help if i can.

Don't know if everyone would agree or not, but if I were you I would be pulling the valve cover off before you start the engine. Check to make sure nothing up there is froze as well. This could potentially save you from bent rods or broken components.

Good Luck

Brian.

On a "B", after putting diesel oil in the cylinders, I engaged the pto and turn it backwards with a pipe wrench. I could not get the pipe wrench on the front pulley.

If you have a big Monkey wrench use it on the hand crank. Your moter will turn with little efford with no stress on the motor.

Is the tractor in freezing temps? Old jack frost can be pretty good glue.

Kregg: Just be patient with the oil you sprayed in cylinders, it may take a few days. If engine was free a year ago it shouldn't be too bad. When you go back to it remove starter so you can use a bar on flywheel thus being able to rotate engine both ways. Use lots of oil and be gentle with bar or crank.
