I have a question maybe and maybe some one will give me some ideas as to how to look in to...
Today i used my 45 A and left the gas turned on while i went in the house to eat and when i went out to go to work i noticed that i had gas dripping out of the rubber boot that goes from the oil bath to the carb itself.. it was a pretty steady heavy drip.. I've noticed here lately that when i would leave the gas on overnight that i would have some spots on the ground but never nothing like i seen today so where do i need to start...??

If you read the manual for your tractor, I am pretty sure that IH recommends shutting the fuel off when not using the tractor. I have had to resort to this on my M, I have 2 Hs that never bother me in this manner. I have had the M carb apart several times trying to remedy this, and after a day or two, it will start dripping again.
As long as the tractor runs fine when you are using it, just shut off the gas when you are not using it.

Hi guess I'm beating a dead horse, but I agree with the other replies, the needle is not setting right an or the float is sticking or my have a whole in it, there are several differnt carbs used on these tractor, so finding the right kit is a pain, If you can buy one already rebuilt.....BUT check with the auto supply store frist like NAPA before you buy form a Case IH dealer..I bought a carb there for around a $140.00 compare to case at $235.00 good Luck

As previously mentioned needle valve problems are very commom in these tractors. Just get used to turning the gas off at the tank.

If you have steady drip you need to check out needle, seat and float (in my opinion) but you will find more of the letter series tractors that have slight leak if gasoline left on than do not. You can stop leak for a while but it will usually come back I just close needle valve at sediment bowl when parking tractor.

Sounds like you need to rebuild the carb the float needle isn't seating good or you have some dirt in the seat. Hope this helps
