On my M.D It seems Iam not getting full throttle. As I have just purchased this tractor Iam not sure how much acelleration the the engine speed control lever should have. It seems the only throttle advance is from the middle position to full throttle and that is not very much. In full throttle it does not seem to really rev up. also the engine speed control handle seems really loose until you push it way up to full. Would air in the system maybe cause this situation. I know the filters were changed prior to me purchasing it. I dont know if he bleed the system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On my SMD,there apparently was some sort of problem at one time, the linkage from the end of the throttle shaft has been reworked and an old tie rod from what looks like the same one on my truck replaced it,accoprding to what I was told its suppose to be like the steering on a lawnmower with the ball and socket.

The linkage on that throttle is kind of complicated, going through a device mounted on the side of the engine block. I suggest you get a service manual which will tell you how to adjust the linkage.

Unhook the linkage at the pump with tractor running and pull back on pump lever. If you get more out of it,you need to adjust linkage to the pump. If not then you can adjust it inside the pump, but if this tractor has an old tired engine I wouldn,t run it that hard anyway.

I have the manual for the tractor. Iam just wondering if what Iam describing is normal for the M.D.

Your description does not sound normal. You will need a way to meaure RPMs to know for sure.
