I have called almost everyone..Apparently no one makes a complete Tie rod Assembly for the 460 Utility. I am sure the Ends can be purchased but not the tube ( mine are stuck in the tube and worn out) I am going to go to the local machine shop and see about having a set made. IF anyone else is experiencing the same problem let me know.

told you I would post back. Well one I had to heat and throw in the bucket 3 times and then it came apart easily. I wire brushed it and oiled it with the oil can and it worked just fine. The other one was a different story. While removing it on the outside the ball poped thru the casting and I had to buy the piece with the nothches cut in it for adjustments. I went to the caseIH dealer and the IH partsman there walked back and got it off the counter and handed it to me. I said charge it cause I need it and do not want to know the price. I figured it was 40 to 50 dollars but I run 5 tractors and need this one tomorrow. At least it is ready for morning.

setting front end out on my 560 and the tie rods are frozen rock solid almost. I plan to do with them what I do with all frozen things. Get a full 5 gallon bucket of water and the tie rod and my torch with the rosebud heating end. Heat the tie rod assembly red hot exept the ends and then place in the bucket of water. You will think it is going to jump out but it will not!! Do this a couple times and then put tie rod in vice and get a pipe wrench and start turning it and it will come out or in what ever you want it to do. I will post later and let you know how mine went

WOW...I just got off the phone and they want 92 bucks for one tie rod end and 72.95 for the other. those are the factory ones...YIKES. I can't imagine they can't be made for less.

They're probably the same ones used on the 300U and 350U, judging by the price. OEM Tractor Parts used to carry them for much less, but when I tried to order some a couple years back my order went unfilled. I'm getting by with some badly used ones.

Well my wife will be using this tractor while i use the dozer and I don't want to risk a tie rod failure. I'll keep you informed if I find a suitable replacement.

When OEM carried them they were about a quarter the price that Case/IH was asking. You might try there, they may have them again. Their phone # is 800/283-2122

Just called them...they said they don't carry them for the 460 U . I can't imagine IH made one special set of tie rod ends for this unit.
