Hello All,

My luck, we get hit with a nice storm in Jersey and the right side of my snow blower goes out! It appears that the something got stuck and the shear pin broke but the problem is that the stem of the pin is still stuck betweent shaft/axle and the blade. Any ideas how I can this piece of the shear pin out from the shaft? 9 HP Craftsman 26" dual stage snow blower.

Thanks in advance!

Line up the outer shaft hole with the inner one and drive it out with a drift.

Yes, a flat punch used to drive pins, check with a auto parts store if you dont have one. Usually come in a set.

I've done this for years. The broken stub will usually come right out with a couple of light taps. Another tip would be to start the engine and turn the auger shaft until the bolt hole is at an angle that is easy to work on. Use low throttle and "bump" the auger clutch until it's where you want it.

Steve, Be sure to back up your blows on the shafts. They might be softer than you think and bend.
