I went to a farm implement sale and there were 2 tractors that were selling. The first was a 1939 H in absolutely mint condition with brand new rubber all the way around. The other tractor was a real nice 45 hp Case with all the bells and whistles. The farmall sold first and I held back bidding because I wanted the Case since I already had a H. The H sold for $1050 while the Case went for $1250 more than my max bid. Had I known the Case was going to sell for that much then I would have bought the H. I hate it when that happens! Oh well, there is always tomorrow!

Just a thought. I'm from Wisconsin, and never could understand why a piece of equipment can be priced differently just because of the area it is being sold in....our old tractors are not meant to be an investment to be collected on later, they are supposed to be a pure hobby of fixing them up & keeping them going to show these pieces of history to those who don't have the time, abilty, or effort to do it themselves....here in Wisconsin, I am beginning to see the old law of "supply & demand", in another words, I have it, you want it, so how much are you willing to pay me??? What a demeaning this hobby is turning out to be!!!

here, try this, the other day I was at a sale and wanted an air compressor. They had a small one on the trailer that was super nice, just a small one but it went cheap so I bought it. Then a hour or so later we are in the back row and here is a nice big compressor like I realy wanted and it is going worth the money too so I bought it. Five minutes later a friend shows up and I sold him the small compressor so all is well.

Griz,

Here's the plan... buy whatever you want and tell her it's hers. I brought tractors #20 and #21 home two weeks ago and it worked! She now has an M and a Cub that I'm working on just for her.

You probably have no idea how much it annoys us in new england to hear of midwest folks buying an H for 800 or a 39 H for 1000. The price is double around here. I know of 2 H's for sale right now, and both are 2500. Too bad fuel costs are so high, or it would be worth shipping them in here.

You'd probably really get annoyed if you learned how much less us bone headed midwesterners pay in property and state taxes than you folks in New England. What ever happened to "Live Free or Die"?

Hey Dick, Move to East Wells and your taxes will be lower. I got about 10 acres with a 1000 sq ft house and I pay $1200. What part of Vt are you ?
