Hello,
I am curious if anyone knows where to purchase ringsets as standalone. So far I have only found rebuild kits per cylinder to include pistons et al. I am wanting only a new set of rings for each cylinder. Any ideas?
Thanks

where most of these aftermarket guys are getting the rings is a "ring manufacturer" such as HASTINGS. you probably recognize them as a manufacturer for auto engine rings. go to web sight and they have everyting from minibike to train locomotive rings. you will need to do a little work yourself. need the bore, number of rings, width of ring, type of ring (oil, scraper, compression, etc) you can get plated or hardened, etc. you might even be able to have them cross reference a "set" i did it all manually for an old ALLIS, price was right and top quality.

My CIH dealer has always been able to supply me with ring sets. I usually take a piston with me when I order them just to make sure to get the right ones.

The ring set needed will depend on the bore, ring pattern, etc. It would be best to have the piston ready so that the part number can be read from it.

I got rings only from Ken Updike at Carter & Gruenwald. You can find Carter & Gruenwald using a search. It's good to have the piston and something to measure with handy when you call.
