Can anyone tell me all the pros an cons of a 3588 international 4 wheel drive. I have heard good and bad. The 466 engine is suppose to be one of international best engines. But the transmission and frt wheel drive are in question. What information need I know before purchasing a 3588.

The best advice I could give you is don't buy it. The 3588 is a poor excuse for a 4-wheel drive tractor. They don't have any advantage over an MFD tractor as far as traction is concerned and the miserable handling characteristics of the cab being on the rear half will discourage you from using it for many jobs. The cab on an articulated 4-wheel drive tractor belongs on the front half as everyone else in a the industry has known for a long time. The 3588 is a very high maintenence machine in both time and dollars. If you decide to buy the 3588 buy a new grease gun at the same time. You will be sending a lot of time on the ground under it greasing all the u-joints. Get to know your local dealer because you will be visiting his service department very often. We traded our 3588 for a 7140MFD just in time. A few years later most dealers wouldn't even look at a 2+2. They would just laugh and then offer their sympathy.

Retreat! Retreat! I'd runaway from them. Neighbor has 2 of them plus a parts one. They are always broke down. I never heard anything good about them especially as they get older!

vern: the front differential has a nasty habit of going out, especially with mismatched tires.
