I've got the rearend and transmission from a'36 F-20 sitting on a stand in my shop. There is alot of grease and grime on them where they mate up and bolt together. How tough is it to split them to replace the gasket? Also, This tractor was painted red and re-painted red and there is no sign that it was ever painted grey, behind the frame rails, under the radiator, motor mounts or anywhere around the rear-end or transmission. Serial # 43427. Thanks, John.

Have just done this exact thing to my Regular.I removed the final housings w/bull gears, counter shafts,differental-ring gear assemblys as I am redoing the gaskets and felt seals througout.Used a cherry picker to support the housing while removing from the transmission. Not a really bad job just greasy, takes a few hours. The bearing caps for the diff. assy. will push off by using a longer bolt in the hole for the retaining clips of the bearing adjusters. This is the 5/8" size head bolt in the center of the cap.Hope this makes sense.

Well, if you are self motivated, it's no problem. You need to first remove the brake drums, the bearings/housings, and then pull out the cross shafts. Next you need to take off the rear sheet metal dome cover. Then you need to remove all the bolts/nuts and separate the housing and the rear end. Oh, and in some cases, you need to take off the differential pig unit to get access to the bolts and nuts. I should take a good sunday to break it down. Good luck and HAve fun!!!!! Ron in Michigan
