I have a TD-9 and I'm new to Tractors.
I figure there's got to be some common mistakes that will be coming my way. Is there anything in particular (Maintenance or Operating techinque) I should or shouldn't do to avoid problems?
Thanks!

If you've been working it hard make sure you idle it down on diesel and then switch back to gas before shutting it down. Switching back to gas brings chamber temperature down and minimizes the chance of cracking the head. Running on gas for a couple minutes will do the trick. It's a powerful machine - have fun.

Those old IH crawlers like to warm up for awhile & also like to cool down slow. Heads are hard to come by. Good luck.

One of the worst places to be with a crawlers is a sidehill when the ground is frozen and starting to thaw. They can slide sideways very easily and dont't stop until you hit something or the ground levels out. Be careful with that thing.

Keep the tracks tight they are no fun to put back on, and they will always come off in the hardest place in the world to put them back on.

I hope you have fun with it, don;t run it in soft ground or you will have itthere a year from now and don't run it up on a hill you just made with it unless youare in the middle of it. If you are off to one side of it you will s--t your pants because they slide easy I know I've done it and it is not fun. Take it easy and work in to anything you are doing with it, its a nice toy but will kill if you aren't careful with it. Hope this helps and have some fun with it
