Actually, International Harvester sold the ag line to Case in 1984, then changed their Corporate name to Navistar, while still selling their trucks and engines under the International name. Recently, they've changed some of hte corporate names back to International. They still operate several of the old IH facilities, namely truck and engine plants. The Diesel engines in the Ford Powerstrokes are made by International.

I thought that in 1984, the IH ag line was purchased by Tenneco and merged with the Case Corporation.

Actually, Tenneco bought Case in the 60s I believe, then bought IH in 84.

Are the engines that are produced for Ford manufactured on the same lines and plants as the ones built for installation in IH trucks?

So far it sounds like the new 6.0 that is going in the Ford F250s and F350s are a huge bust - massive quality control problems and poor computer engineering. Ford is easing its warranty policy and taking 2003s in and replacing them with 2004 models.

I've heard that the later engines are getting better. I don't think International is putting them in any of their trucks right now- different lines.

Guy, I guess that the Powerstroke Diesel is what they plan to put in the new International Truck line that someone talked about a while back.

International are still being sold today. Say one last month. Some company bought the name and has nothing to do with the orginal International Harvester Company.
