First the bragging. I drove out to the farm where I had been using my super c with a neighbor to drive it home. He had never seen such an old tractor still running and not in a museum he said. I get that a lot around here. Anyway to impress him even more the battery was dead from sitting for a month. It was 20 deg outside. I pulled the choke, 1/4 throttle, turned the key, and cranked the hand crank 1 time and it roared to life. I was even impressed with that! He had never seen anyone hand crank anything before. He followed me the 10 miles home and we got to an amazing 15 mph down the farm road. I had never done any 4th gear running in it before. Sure was fun!

I have been using my super c that my son and I restored a few years ago at my freinds farm in trade for mule riding lessons. Anyway, I moved my mule to another place and the super c is going too but I got it at home for some much needed maintenance and was wondering your thoughts.
I am in pretty bad need of a new seal kit for the hyd cylinder for the fast hitch in back. It is just leaking all over the place. I gave up asking for any parts for it here at the local IH dealer since they can't even sell me an oil filter. I have been calling the dealer I used to work at in Pa but the parts guys I used to know there are all gone now and I don't get the same discounts anymore. Anyone know of a good source for this seal kit. I also need a outer seal for 1 axle and 1 for the belt pulley shaft. This thick dust here in Lubbock really took it's toll on the original seals left in it. One last thing I can't seem to find anywhere is a new set of ball ends for the ends of the fast hitch yoke in back. The ball jointsat the top of the swivel from the lift yoke to the actual hitch arms. I am sorry I don't know their exact name. Anyway the balls are about worn out from the grease fittings missing for most of it's life. I replaced the fittings but they are still very loose and need replaced. I talked to a junk man who had a good idea of welding a modern 3 point ball end on in it's place but I would rather stay original. Except for the key switch I put on to keep kids from getting hurt and the k&N filter on top of the stack it is all original and show ready. Can anyone help with finding any of these parts. Thanks in advance if you can.

Dan, you can never have too much fun on these old tractors. From your message I assume you are from Lubbock, Texas. I am a TTU alumn so I know what you mean about the dust! Anyway, when I helped my Dad rebuild his Super C hydraulic last year he got the kit from a Curreth/Doggett dealer in Brenham,TX 979-836-6641. Also, the CASE/IH dealer in Taylor, TX has three of the best counter guys you could ever talk with. Call Daryl, Ricky, or Walter at 512-352-6381. Tell them Rodney from Houston sent you. This rebuild kit has more o-rings then you can imagine.

Thanks a lot for all the answers guys. I am probably gonna give them guys in taylor texas a call. I have seen a lot of old farmalls around there driving through so maybe they won't laugh at me like they do here when I asked for parts. You should have seen this nut when I went in there asking for an oil filter. I even gave him the part number. He said they haveent made them things in 30 years. I also gave him all the part numbers for some parts I needed to rebuild a governoor for a freinds c and he said the same thing. I talked to the manager and explained to him that not even two months ago I worked at a real case IH dealer in another state and all these numbers were good then and I wanted an explanation why his counterguys were not looking them up. He simply told me that the only farmalls around here were in the museum and they didn't carry parts for them and won't order any. Well wasn't that nice? Anyway thanks again for all the info. Now I can go and get my tractor all serviced up.

Sounds like you had a great day with your Super C. Really great to be able to enjoy the tractor for sure. The best source that I know of for Farmall parts is Ken Updike, at Carter & Gruenwald, 608.455.2411.

Hope this helps and enjoy that Super C!
Bob
