I posted about my problem a few months ago on my H, my problem still didn't solve its self like I was hoping for. I changed the seal on the Lift-All drive dog on the transmission side. I put itback together with the drive dog on the transmission shaft finger tight (Got the drive shaft kind of snug). My problem is that the shaft loosens up a little when first started, the Lift-All drive shaft is a little loose, not falling out shaking loose, but looser than before I changed the seal. I had hoped using the Lift-All with a hydraulic cylinder would cause the drive dog to self tighten against the drive shaft making it kind of tight. I am stumped, any ideas out there? My Lift-All drive shaft was kind of tight before I changed the seal ,I don't think my parts are worn out. Thanks!!!

If I understand your question, the connecting shaft between the transmission & the pump gets a little more play in it after you have started the tractor compared to before your seal replacement work.
Have you considered that the 4 mounting bolts may have some slack in the holes allowing for the loosness you speak of?
If there is oil in the pump and you pull the lever back (engine running), can you detect a slowing of the RPM's indicating that the pump is building pressure?
The drive dog on the transmission cannot come loose in operation unless you are running the engine backwards. The same theory applies to the pump driven dog.
If the Lift-All works and doesn't leak, BE HAPPY!!

Thanks for replying!!! My lift-all works ok, it makes the engine lug when the rod is pulled (no cylinder hooked up) , then it snaps back. It works good on a cylinder too. It does leak a little and will require a seal and a couple of gaskets sometime. My problem is on the drive shaft. I screwed in that round nut that has a slot for the drive shaft into the transmission finger tight. I then installed the drive shaft, I could move it front to back a little, so I then unscrewed that round slotted nut a little (Because it was finger tight). That got my drive shaft tight like before I took it apart. Next I start the tractor, that round nut is supose to turn so it loosens up, compressing the shaft a little to keep it tight. Mine on the other hand gets a little loose. I don't mind that it is a little loose, I just don't want to wear out the drive shaft and those 2 round slotted nuts because of the backlash every time the clutch is engaged/ disengaged. Should I back off on that round nut with a pipe wrench putting some pressure on the drive shaft?? Thanks for replying!!!!!

When the drive or driven nuts with the slots in them are installed, they automatically tighten up to a shoulder on the threaded shaft. They should not be loose, in fact you should tighten them a little when installing seals because that helps prevent oil leakage past the threads.
Try loosening the 4 mounting cap screws on the bottom of the Lift-All pump and pry the pump towards the rear and then re-tighten the cap screws; you may be able to move the pump a fraction closer.
I doubt the connecting shaft & retaining collars will ever wear out in your lifetime so do not concern yourself with a little slack.
