We are thinking of putting a 350 Chevy in an F 20. Just wanted to see if anyone has pictures or knows any secrets to make life easier. Of course that is half the fun not knowing what to expect. Go Big Red!!!!!

Ive got a buddy that put a 427 chevy in one,and it was out of a drag car.He has the CNI ticket to prove he was roasting the tires on that farmall out on the blacktop. The scene was just like out of the movies. The cop was hiding behind the drive in theater screen and caught them while racing it down the blacktop.I have that exact engine in my super pro drag car now.It ran mid ten second runs in quarter mile at 130mph!I never saw the engine in the tractor so I cant help much on how to install.

Did a plymouth V-8 into a F-20 about 25 yr.s ago.Lengthened the framerails about 12" and used a 3 speed trans. back of the 273 c.i. motor. Worked great, also used a large plymouth radiator,it never overheated. Both transmissions in reverse and a bungie cord to hold the steering wheel, line it up straight between the rows of hay bales and you could load hay all by yourself. It was very scary with both in high gear.Ran the plymouth trans. in low most times, could keep the RPM up a bit on the motor, made piles of torque.Could lift the front wheels under most circumstances just by hauling back on the throttle lever.NOT the kind of machine to let a kid operate.Guess I could have hung some extra weight out front.Torch, welder, drillpress,a bit of backyard enginering--go for it!!

used to see a lot of them as pullers when I was a kid. Remember one had twin Cadilac engines. That was at Cherry Creek, New York in the late 70s They all pulled the same sled and measured the time with lights. Man, could those F20s fly. I got out of the bleachers and my buddy and I stood back behind out of the way. They were using no safetys or anything and I could just imagine one coming through the snowfence.

I have seen it done, but it did not turn me on. That might be because I have seen too many small block chevys in hot rods, and I am sick of them. I would think a nice IH 6.9 or 7.3 diesel from a school bus or a ford pickup would be a great swap. YOu could pull helll off it's hinges with that setup.
I had a F12 with a flathead jeep engine, and that pulled good, and had electric start.

The only F20 I've seen with a v8 in it was stalled along the road. We gave the guy a ride home and talked to him a while. The reason he was stalled because the tractor kept overheating. The radiator that was on the f20 was original and wouldn't keep the v8 cool enough.
Other than that he said it would do about 45 or 50 mph.

I Have a 1935 F-20 with a V6 Chevy 4 speed out of a pickup. I had a 350 chevy in it but decided to tame it down. I still run the F 20 radiator and have no over heating problems, but I have an electric fan with a shroud on the radiator. E-mail me personally and I can explain in more detail.
