Start with the engine will it start right up is there white smoke a long time, that will point that there is a compression problem, valves or piston rings. Is the engine not greasy, leaking gaskets or oilseals. Than test the clutch is there enough play in the pedal, test the brakes do they work ok. Than the sheet metal. And so you have to work to the end, but grap fist the things that envolve the safety of youself and others (brakes, steering)

Technical information:

engine 3 Cylinder direct injection
max 52 PS(pferde starke) Horse power
r.p.m. 2100
bore 98.4 mm
stroke 128.5 mm
engine displacement 2934 cm3
total wieght 2440 kg

A 523 starts just like a 423 i own. Next to the contact key is a switch with two positions. Pull the switch in the first position is for the glowing pull the switch further and it starts.

The IH534 was made from 1969-72. Had the D179 German motor. Manuals are still available.
Hope this helps. Manuel
