Have a steering gear housing that leaks. Got to wondering if I could just pack it with grease? This is on a B Farmall. Thanks..

See your local SNAPPER dealer and ask for SNAPPER"00".See previous post"Grease in steering box"on 11-22-03.Don't forget to replace that seal!

Replace the seal then fill with 90wt. The worm and gear will be covered and also the top and bottom ball bearings will get better lube than grease.

I always replace the gear oil in the steering housing with grease. It is almost impossible to keep the seals from leaking gear oil but the grease will stay in the housing and do just fine unless you are in a very, very cold climate which makes the grease get stiff.
