I am wondering if any of you have came up with a real ecinomical way to add power steering and live hydralics to an M farmall. I know there are after market kits but they are pricey. I know there has to be a way to do this fairly cheap.

I would agree with the others. Depending upon how much you want the live hydraulics I guess. If you get ps without a pump you'll need it to run that. Do you have a wide front or narrow? On a wide front I think the PS from an older 95 JD combine might work, it uses a tie rod acuator and cylinder, have the stuff but haven't tried it yet. Best bet for live hydraulics though is the IH or aftermarket pump. You find them on e bay sometimes but I'm told you need a front cover off of a super. Good luck on it

Maybe you can get a free lunch with that inexpensive Live power/PS system you are looking for. In my part of this world neither one are a reality.

Be sure to let us know if there is one out there and where we can find one for ourselves.

GOOD LUCK

ditto on cost John
I used a pump from a SM,used regulater divider, built a 6 gal. oil tank, two new control valves, had a cyl. for bucket dump and two for home made 3 point for brush hog,and power steering unit and all new hoses, tank screen and spin on filter was $800, my labor free, but I have what I wanted. power steering, lift and dump are run from full time and home made three point from belly pump.
