I have an early 1948 C International Tractor. Serial no. 1815. Does anyone have the manufacturers seal number for the brake drum shaft seal. I would like to order new ones before I tear the old ones out.

It's entirely possible that you have sn 1815, but note that all the C and Super C tractors have the #1815 on the serial number tag listed as engine no-load max rpm. Don't recall at the moment but I think it's at the lower right side of the tag, or maybe just on the bottom line.

Good point Stan. A year ago when I bought my second C it was advertised as a '48. The only number they could make out was the 1815 on the tag on the seat support. This turns out to be stamped in the tag. After I bought it I checked the serial number of the engine which is located on the side of the block just below #1 spark plug on a flat machined spot. Turns out it was actually a '50 and only two mumbers off from the first one I puchased. Now to find the one that is in-between.

The serial# on my "C" is 1727,maybe built the same week or even the same day!Anyway,I believe the numbers you need CHR11171 andCHR23710. These are for the brake seals and the brake pedal shaft. While I had mine apart I replaced both. These are the Chicago Rawhide numbers and any parts house or bearing jobber should be able to get them alot cheaper than IHC.

Oil seal is 351 108 R91, dust seal is 63 090 D. You will find a parts manual indispensable, and you won't have to worry that I gave you the right numbers.
