Have you guys heared or had any dealings with (Overseas Procurment Limited)? They sent me a e-mail wanting to buy a tractor I have put on the classified ads. It reads like they are a company that will ship tractor and buses worldwide and have a customer that will pay me with a via cashier check. Director David James and a long phone number.

Yes, it is a scam. I sell Moline stuff and get it all the time. Usually the letters are general and use the name of you item for sale. I can nail these every time. They never get specific about details except they try to send you a bogus check for over the amount to forward money on to their shipper. It is all bogus. The last one I had was a guy in South Africa wanting to buy my MM lawnmower snow blade. Why the heck do you need a snow blade in South Africa? I forward all e-mail addresses to the FDIC e-mail address designated by their fraud website.

It is most likely a scam. This scam is running so rampant it is a wonder they have not yet run out of inocent victims. The goverment of Nigeria is paid off by these scammers, so nothing is done to stop them.
See the link to an information site on the activity, and addresses of how to report it.

It seems like a variation on a lot of the ones comming out of the east coast of africa. I'm an agent for someone who would like to buy a tractor the person will give you 10,000 in the form of a cashiers check or a bank wire for a tractor worth 5,000. Once you recieve this please send me the difference. If you give them wire instructions they will clean out your bank account. If they sent a cashiers check you can bet it's going to be bad in hopes you'll return some of the money before being discovered. I've heard on this forun that they start to make threats against you if you discover it's a fraud and don't send the money.

Best advice delete the e-mail and block the sender.

I would think a company in business to do this would have a US office or rep to at least look at the tractor first

Ron,

I recieved a simmilar notification a couple of weeks ago. It mainly said that they had found an overseas buyer that wanted to purchase my "auto/farm tractor machine". Also, the message stated that this buyer was offering beyond ten times what its normal value was. The funny thing was, I never put my Farmall H in a classified add or talked of selling it. I had only requested parts information, ordered manuals, and posted messages on ytmag.com and RedPowerMagazine.com. I deleted the message, but these types of scams seem to be surfacing quite often!

Do yourself a favor and just delete all e-mails of this nature, cashiers checks can be forged also.

It's been my experience that if you must ask if it's a scam...it is! Delete these emails (or respond with a few choice words). Zak

Never reply, in any way, to junk email like this obvious scam. That only serves to verify that yours is a legitimate email address. You'll just get a whole lot more of the same.
