My Dad had an IH 46 from 1962 till 1982 was much improved over IH 45. Had a better pickup than JD 14T but knotters weren't as good. Must keep twine knives sharp to tie properly. Check for broken spring on plunger stop block. This spring is located under bale chamber just behind axle. If this spring breaks and something jambs the needles the plunger will hit the needles.

46 IH baler is a very good baler. I used a 77 NH which was a big baler with big capacity. I went to a 46 and it would bale right with the 77.I still have a 46 in moth balls in Dubuque, Iowa that I should sell.
