Farmall H oil leak question....

I got a 49 H over the weekend and have been using it to move a few things around the farm. I noticed today that I have a oil leak in the area between the governor and the radiator hoses. It is the seal on the end of the engine. Is this something I need to be overly concerned with, or can I run it for years with this leak. (I wanted to mention that the oil pressure tops out, when it is started). What do you guys think?

Jesse it is common for the bolts on the timing cover to work their way loose. Tighten those down and your leak will probably stop.

He is up and running again. He had vertabrae fusion surgery, just before Labor Day weekend, in his lower back due to a pinched syactic nerve. He is no longer using a cane and is completely out of pain.

Most of these old tractors are going to leak somewhere, unless all of the seals have just been replaced. Unless your leak becomes real bad, just keep a real close watch on the engine oil level, and live with it.

It could be coming from the governor on the back side where the shaft for the governor arm goes in. I have had this on some of the H's I've owned. The fan whips the oil arond and makes it hard to see where it's coming from.
