In an old posting about removing stuck/broke bolts, a fellow recommended using left hand bits to drill out. His experience was that during the drill out process the left hand drill frequently removed the offending bolt. He had a set and didn't remember where they came from. Northern Tool & Equipment catalog list a 15 & 29 pc set of Titanium Drills for $39 & $ 56. 1 800 533-5545 Item 158780-1412 or 158781-1412. Dick Davis

I have a set I got at Harbor Freight, real cheap, and not just in price. I think it was 5 bucks for a set of 4. I drill a pilot hole with a smaller right hand drill, then use the cheap left hand drill to finish it off, works pretty good. I don't think I would try to rely on my cheap set to drill a hole with out a pilot hole, though.

Dick: I also have had good luck with counter clockwise drill bits. I only have about 4 sizes, wouldn't be without them.

I have had good luck with the left hand drills and the small set would be a great idea.

I don't think that you would ever need a complete set of these. Maybe 3 sizes would be sufficient. Try McMaster-Carr or Grainger.
Yes, these work very well for broken off bolts, if the bolt is stuck from rust, might not work as good, but it would sure be worth a try.
