666 won't steer. Changed the hydraulic fluid and filter. I didn't think this was the problem but it needed it anyway. The steering wheel feels like the pump is working but the fronts don't even twitch. Remotes work. The tractor was bought in this condition.

Thanks Andy

I pulled the return lines off at the steering pump and have a good supply of fluid coming back from the front end when I crank the starter over. Is it safe to say the problem lies in the front end? Time to pull the radiator and take a look? Still waiting for the manual to arrive. Any Ideas? Thanks Andy.

Andy you should be able to steer thr tractor with out the pump so make sure the front wheels are not locked could have a bad rack or pinion. Should be 2 ports on the outside of the pump mount for testing pumps one little on and one bigger one both are hex you could that the lettle one loose and crank the engine to see if any oil comes out pump would have to tost if nun came out. just my 2c

Andy , that sounds like my 584 when the filter needs changing, the steering goes. I had a dealer give me the wrong filter once and I couldn't get steering, after a trip back to the dealer they discovered that I had the wrong filter for the type of screen that is in the tractor, once I had the correct pair I was quickly back in business. If you are sure you have the correct filter then disregard my message. From this point it could then be a problem with the hydraulic pump, blocked line, pinched or otherwise...good luck and let us know how you make out...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Ken: Throw those damn superstitions away, the 666 is as good a tractor as anyone ever built.
