I have a steering assist (power) installed on a WR9 from probably a 650. The valve in the drag link is leaking. Can I rebuild it with common o-rings or is there a kit available. Appreciate any help!

Roger,

At one time there would have probably been a kit available. I rebuilt a power steering of this type, not 650, many years ago and it consisted mainly just a bunch of o-rings. May have included a couple or springs also but I don't remember. You should basicly be able to do yours with just new o-rings. Case IH dealer might accidentally suprize you and still have a kit listed. Won't hurt to try dealer first.

I'll check. The problem is the local dealer was CASE so he does not have books on the older IHC's. Your info helps as I'm always leary of taking something apart that requires unique parts to put back together. See post on the other "Farmall" that we have been back and forth on for more info.
Thanks
Roger

Roger,

Some of the IH combines used the same type power steering as on your W9/650 setup into the 60's before they changed to hydrostatic power steering. It would not be the exact same unit, but the same design, and you could probably more easily find a parts book for a breakdown on it for a combine eisier than a tractor. I don't remember if the 403 and 503 combines had this type power steering ou not. They would be the newest that might have it. I made another post relative to comment on my Struck on our other Farmall thread posting.
