The local Farm & Home store had a 20% off sale today, so I picked up a hydraulic control valve with the intention of using it as a spool valve to make the cylinder on the 3-point into a 2-way. When I got home and started reading the instructions, I discovered the statement "This valve does not incorporate a load check so it is not intended for metered lifting applications or heavy loads". The valve is apparently designed to be used on a log-splitter, but will this valve work for my application? I usually don't lift anything heaver than a 7 foot blade.

I don;t think so. I have a 2 spool valve on a M to run the 3 point and the loader at the same time. It works great, but the valve i have has the checks. If you don;t have them the lift will go back down as soon a you stop. I don;t have down pressure on mine. I don;t think you need it as all the impliments are heavy enough to go down on there own. I think the extra hyd. lines just get in the way/.
