John
I'd say if you did all that work for only $2000 you have done wonders. Obviously your not counting your labor. You can sell it for more than you have in it and you can't say that about most of our "project" tractors. Heck I have around $8000 in a Super C but then I'm not very mechanical. Nice work.

John, The word is commended, not committed. Committed, of course, but only to keeping these magnificent beauties alive for whatever purpose.

The shrinks call this good therapy. I figure that if you can afford it without compromising the welfare of the home or family, then it's fine. Around here, lots of folks throw away lots of money daily at the indian casinos, and when they leave, they have nothing, not even a smile.
I restore cars for a living, and most of them cost more to do than the owner can ever hope to sell them for, but it's not all about money, it's about enjoyment. The first time you climb on that tractor and drive it when it is done, you will know it was worth it. My father always said "you can't take your money with you, unless you eat it before you go". What you are doing is surely better than spending the money at the casino, or some saloon, so have fun, and take pride in the finished product. Just think of what a comperable tractor to that one would cost new today.

Just put the H back in the barn after taking a spin around the back 40. Bill you said it all, I enjoy the old tractor, I am not taking bread off the table to keep it up, it relaxs me and one of these days after I am gone it will most likely be sold to keep up the Mrs. In addition it is a little piece of history that will be around a while longer.

Well I always figure as long as I don't spend more then what I can get back out of it or more then what its worth to me, then I'm still doing alright.
Its when you send $10,000 on something that you can never get more then $500 for thats when you need to stop and look at it, but of course there are times that is even worth it, Like maybe your grandfathers tractor etc
