I'm rebuilding a '48 Farmall C, The replacment pistons are aluminum and have a offset piston pin. The manual indicates that some replacments have offset pins although does not indicate the correct way the pistons should be installed. There is a notch in the piston top. Should this go toward the front or rear of the engine?? Any information would be helpful.

I checked my book and it doesent really ansewer your question, but only state sthat the numbered side of the rod and cap are installed facing toward the camshaft side of the engine. this information is for the c-113 engine. That is all the information that I can offer but make sure you find out about the proper piston installtion, is frustrating to do this much work and then find out that you put them in facing the wrong direction. good luck with your project,
